WELL DONE everyone on another SUPER week! Everyone has settled in so well this first half term and it has flown! A very special WELL DONE to our Reception children who have been WONDERFUL!
As we approach the end of our first half term together it is always uplifting and rewarding to see how the children settle in and help one another as part of our school family. We had our first House Afternoon this week and the children thoroughly enjoyed it! House Afternoons are great opportunities for the children to work together in their Houses from Reception to Year 6. Our Year 6 House Captains are kept very busy and did a brilliant job – WELL DONE House Captains! It gave all the children a chance to welcome their new members from Reception and get to know one another. A GREAT afternoon – WELL DONE EVERYONE!
In Monday’s assembly the focus was one of our CARITAS themes ‘The dignity of the human person’. Our ‘Caritas’ Diocesan scheme of work focusses on the social teaching of the Catholic church and we cover the themes throughout the year. The children were brilliant in my assembly and each class then continued work on the theme in class. It was wonderful to see how the children could empathise and reach out to others, they produced some lovely, high quality work too!
The Fire Service came to visit Year 6 on Wednesday afternoon to talk about fire safety. This is an annual visit for Year 6 and they will also go on the ‘Crucial Crew Visit’ later in the year that is delivered by the emergency services on personal safety.
The Harvest Mass will be our first school of the year and it is always lovely to welcome you all to join us. Our new Reception children will join Mass at the offertory as it is their first Mass in school. We look forward to celebrating Mass with you and Fr Morrough, sincere thanks for the generous donations of tea, coffee and sugar that are vital to the Brothers of the Missionaries of Charity for their work with the poor and homeless.
The PSA are busy organising their next event and looking at other ways to promote events. Please keep your eyes out for text messages and promotions coming soon!
The next event will be ‘Race Night’ in February – a GREAT event!
Unfortunately the Y3/4 Tag Rugby tournament was cancelled this week so we will let you know if that is re-scheduled after half term.
Cross Country ‘Fun Run’ and championship dates will be sent to us in due course so we will let you know.
A great start for our sport this half term and every week in Awards Assembly we celebrate FANTASTIC sporting achievements from cycling, running, dancing, swimming and martial arts that the children do outside of school.
We have also made a super start to the ‘Daily Mile’ in KS2 and every day weather permitting that will take place. All children are invited to take part at their pace and level, it is great to look out on the field and see all those athletes!
