Head Teacher’s Blog 23.9.19-27.9.19

Hi Everyone,

WELL DONE everyone on another SUPER week! It has been great to see our KS2 children taking part in the ‘Daily Mile’ each dinnertime – FANTASTIC PARTICIPATION EVERYONE WELL DONE! We introduced the ‘Daily Mile’ last year and it was a great success. It is a national initiative and promotes our healthy lifestyles and keeping fit aims. We now have Y5 Daily Mile Leaders who stamp the children’s cards each time they complete a lap. It is a great and fun way to keep fit and be with your friends – everyone can join in!

In Monday’s assembly we reflected on how important it is to treat one another with kindness and to share a smile! Mr Greenland our Brass teacher from Bolton Music Service also joined us to promote brass instruments. We have some places available for new brass players in KS2 and the children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the trumpet and trombone!

We also welcomed our new Year 5 Pupil Chaplains and awarded them with their certificates in assembly. Well done to Annabel, Eleanor, Evangeline, Layla, Malachy and Molly – you will be FANTASTIC!

We had school photographs on Wednesday and the children were excellent! We were all done by 11.30am. Class photographs are done later in the academic year.

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning next Friday in the hall from 8.50am and support this worthy cause. There will be tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits for you to enjoy! Our Year 6 pupils and Pupil Chaplains will be organising and running this- come and enjoy a brew, cake and chat with us!

It has been lovely visiting classes this week and talking to children to see how well they are settling back into the new school year. Children helping one another in class, on the playground and in the dinner hall. Our new Reception children are doing so well and I was very impressed with them in their first ‘Sing Time’ with me this week! Super singing! However one little Reception boy did say to me that he was finishing school in three weeks – obviously thought he done his bit then! I gently said that was a holiday and I really hoped he would be coming back – fingers crossed! We sometimes need reminding that change is a challenge for all of us but we can do it together!

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

We look forward to another GREAT week!

God bless

Mrs Doodson
