Head Teacher’s Blog 18.11.19-22.11.19

Hi Everyone,

WELL DONE everyone on another great week! The children have worked hard on their assessments – WELL DONE!

Flu vaccinations were done on Monday for all the children that had completed consent forms from parents.

Year 3 Sacramental Programme children were excellent in their first preparation session on Tuesday after school. WELL DONE! They listened beautifully and have begun a very special journey, we will be praying for them.

Thank-you to all the Reception parents who attended the Reception Phonics Workshop on Tuesday after school. We hope you found it useful and helpful in terms of being able to support your child with their phonics development.

Every class enjoyed the Road Safety Workshops on Wednesday and a great opportunity to remind them of the Green Cross Code and especially keeping safe on our roads in autumn/winter time. WELL DONE to every class as I received super reports from the instructors who delivered the sessions!

A very BIG thank-you fro all the wonderful ‘Migration Project’ stories that have been sent in. This whole school project along with other Catholic schools in Bolton will be launching a celebration event in Bolton’s Market Place from the 2nd December. Please come and see the display – it will be FANTASTIC! We will send you more details, so please if you are in Bolton, come and see us!

We have been informed by Salford Diocese that we will have RE/Section 48 inspection next term. Our last RE inspection was in March 2015 and we received a ‘good’ judgement overall but ‘outstanding’ in ‘Welcome, welfare, witness and Catholic leadership’. We had a very successful and enthusiastic joint training session for governors and staff on Wednesday evening as part of our preparation. It was lovely to share our views, insights and pupils’ work to confirm our judgements of continued ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ features. We will inform you when we receive notification of the inspection in the spring term.

Reminders for next week

  • Fri. OWN CLOTHES DAY donations for the Christmas Hamper raffle please

Reception Class and Classes 1 and 2 are very busy rehearsing their nativity plays and this is such an important and wonderful part of our Advent journey. As we approach the Feast of Christ the King and look forward to the beginning of Advent on the 1st December we are reminded that the birth of a baby in Bethlehem changed the world. The nativity story is so beautifully shared by our Reception and KS1 children, I know you will be looking forward to the performances.

We will continue to ‘Remember’ in November with our memory basket and prayers in assembly until we begin our Advent journey. Such an important time for families so we keep all of you in our prayers especially those families who may be experiencing loss or difficulty.

I hope you all have a lovely and enjoyable weekend, God bless.

We will look forward to another SUPER week!

Mrs Doodson
