We have had a lovely last week of term – WELL DONE EVERYONE!
Year 6 enjoyed their Leavers Trip to ‘Inflatanation’ on Monday with lunch at Macdonald’s afterwards! We say a sad goodbye to our Year 6 children, they have been a wonderful class and we will miss them. WELL DONE YEAR 6 AND GO LUCK IN YOUR HIGH SCHOOLS! We say to everyone who leaves St Bernard’s that St Bernard will always be with them on their journey and he will!
The Y6 Leavers Mass on Wednesday was beautiful and lovely to see so many parents and family members there. The Year 6 children led the Mass so well and made it so special for everyone. My thanks to all of them, Mrs Grant, Miss Settle and especially Fr Morrough.
Vincent our winning House of the Year enjoyed their treat yesterday afternoon and were fantastic!
Today we had our final assembly of the year we awarded the children who have had 100% this year – FANTASTIC! We also presented Miss Turner with her gifts and said our farewell to s SUPER teacher! I know you will join me in giving your good wishes and prayers with mine to wish her every success and happiness at St William of York RC primary school.
We had a brilliant Sports Awards assembly yesterday and it was great to acknowledge and celebrate all our sporting participation and success this year. WELL DONE to EVERYONE!
Special thanks to Mrs Spencer/PE Leader, Mrs Maguire and Mr Fenton/Coach for their dedication and support over the year.
- Miss Shaw will be joining us in September as our new Class 1 teacher. She has been to visit over the last couple of weeks and she is raring to go so we look forward to seeing her in September.
- We have just appointed a new Teaching Assistant for KS1 due to a review of pupil need across the school. Mrs Kay will be joining us as new Teaching Assistant based in Class 2 and Miss Knowles will now be based in the Reception class.
2019 School Results
Reception percentage of children attaining a ‘Good Level of Development’ 83%
Y1 phonics screening pass rate 93%
KS1/Y2 SATs (percentage of children meeting the expected standard at the end of KS1)
KS2/Y6 SATs (percentage of children meeting the expected standard at the end of KS2)
We are delighted with these results and the children in those classes have worked so hard – WELL DONE!
