Hi Everyone,
WELL DONE everyone on another great week! We started the week with our assembly on Monday on the theme of anti-bullying as it is national anti-bullying week. The children have followed this up in their classes with work on friendship and strategies on what to do if they felt they were being bullied or someone else. We always find the children enjoy the sessions and I was so impressed that one child in Monday’s assembly remembered a strategy they had learnt last year!
Sincere thanks to all the parents, grandparents and family members who came to join us for the KS2 Mass on Wednesday morning. It was a beautiful Mass on the theme of Remembrance and the children were FANTASTIC! Fr Morrough was thrilled with the number of parents who attended – thank-you!
Our next Mass will be our Advent Mass on 18th December at 11am, please come and join us.
Mrs Grant and I have been visiting each class this week as part of our on-going monitoring programme throughout the year. It was wonderful to be in all the classes – the children were SUPER and their learning impressive!
The children will be doing assessments at the moment we now do these once per term as directed by the DfE. Previously we did half termly assessments but all schools have now been directed to assess three times per year maximum. The results of the assessments feed into our assessment system to ensure children stay on track and access any further support or intervention needed.
PSA News
The PSA are hoping to organise a coffee morning for parents and grandparents before the end of term so please watch out for a date and details! We are just finalising details now and will let you know as soon as possible. Come and join us for a hot drink and a mince pie in the festive season!
Sporting News
The final race for Cross Country took place on Thursday at Rivington and Blackrod high school during the afternoon. We had been asked by the organisers to send a smaller team due to it being a different course. Our team did really well despite very muddy conditions – WELL DONE Cross Country team! Great running and great spirit!
Unfortunately the Y3/4 Tag Rugby competition was cancelled on Wednesday afternoon
